Reflections from a Student Teacher: 15th-Day Experience at St. John's Model HSS, Nalanchira

 As a student teacher, each day is a new learning experience, and today marked the 15th day of my teaching internship at St. John's Model Higher Secondary School in Nalanchira. This day was particularly significant as it was my first opportunity to lead a class independently. The subject was physics, and the topic for the day was velocity-time graphs. I had prepared thoroughly and was excited to utilize ICT aids to enhance the learning experience for the students.


The Classroom Experience


I walked into my assigned classroom filled with a mixture of nervousness and enthusiasm. The eager faces of the ninth-grade students awaited my instruction. The topic for the day was velocity-time graphs, a fundamental concept in physics. To make the lesson engaging and comprehensible, I decided to incorporate ICT aids, such as interactive simulations and videos.


I began the class by explaining the basics of velocity-time graphs, illustrating the relationship between velocity and time. I used a digital projector to display interactive graphs and animations that allowed students to visualize the concepts in real-time. The students seemed captivated by the visuals, and their engagement was palpable.

National Doctors Day Celebration


In addition to my teaching duties, today was also a special day for our college's student teachers as we organized a celebration to commemorate National Doctors' Day. Dr. Shijin, a renowned local doctor, was invited to inaugurate the program and deliver a talk about the importance of the medical profession.


The event was a great success, and Dr. Shijin's insightful talk left a lasting impact on both students and teachers. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to bridge the gap between the academic world and the real-world contributions of healthcare professionals. Such events not only inspire students but also serve as a reminder of the importance of various professions in society.


Conclusion


My 15th-day experience as a student teacher at St. John's Model HSS in Nalanchira was both challenging and rewarding. Leading the class and using ICT aids to teach velocity-time graphs allowed me to witness the power of technology in education. The review questions and follow-up activity aim to consolidate the students' understanding of the topic, while the National Doctors Day celebration was a reminder of the diverse roles we play in shaping young minds.
