My Teaching Practice Journey at St. Mary's HSS Pattom: A Day to Remember

 As a student teacher, embarking on my teaching practice journey at St. Mary's Higher Secondary School in Pattom was an exciting and nerve-wracking experience. Each day brought new challenges, learning opportunities, and memorable moments. However, the 15th day of my teaching practice will forever hold a special place in my heart.


The Day's Focus: A Lesson on Resistors in Class 9 Physics


On that eventful day, I was assigned the first period in a Class 9 physics class. The topic for the day was "Introduction to Resistors," and I was determined to make it an engaging and informative session for the students.


To capture the students' attention and make the topic more relatable, I decided to use a combination of interesting videos and images. The videos showcased real-life applications of resistors, from electronic circuits to household appliances, helping the students understand their importance.


After the video presentation, I used colorful and visually appealing images to explain the concept further. I discussed the color coding of resistors, emphasizing its significance in determining resistance values.

Research Project: Assign each student a specific application of resistors (e.g., LED lighting, heating elements) and ask them to research its importance and the types of resistors used.

Supporting Tasks: Mid-Day Meal Distribution and Discipline


Apart from the teaching experience, I had the opportunity to contribute to the school's routine by assisting in maintaining discipline during mid-day meal distribution. This task allowed me to interact with students from various classes and build rapport with them outside the classroom setting. It also emphasized the importance of order and responsibility in a school environment.


Overall, the 15th day of my teaching practice at St. Mary's HSS Pattom was a day of growth and inspiration. It taught me the significance of making lessons engaging and relatable for students and the importance of contributing to the school community in various ways. This experience was a stepping stone in my journey towards becoming an effective educator, and I will always cherish the memories and lessons learned on that day.
