28 Days of Growth: My Teaching Internship Experience at St. John's Model HSS Nalanchira
As a student teacher, embarking on my teaching internship at St. John's Model Higher Secondary School in Nalanchira has been a transformative journey. Each day has presented unique challenges and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Today, on my 28th day at the school, I want to share my experience of teaching unbalanced external forces from the chapter "Laws of Motion" to a class of 9th-grade students, utilizing ICT, while also being a part of an important event – the Anti-War Day Exhibition organized by student teachers from our college.
The Morning Preparation:
My day began with anticipation and excitement as I prepared to teach the concept of unbalanced external forces. I gathered my teaching materials, which included a laptop, projector, and a well-structured presentation. Integrating technology into the classroom has been a key aspect of my teaching approach, and today was no exception.
Teaching with ICT:
The classroom was filled with eager faces, and I could sense their curiosity. I started the lesson by introducing the topic, explaining the importance of understanding unbalanced external forces in the context of physics. To make the concept more engaging and comprehensible, I relied on ICT resources. I used interactive simulations and videos to illustrate real-life examples, making the abstract concept of forces tangible for my students. The students' eyes lit up as they witnessed the practical applications of physics in action.
Student Engagement:
One of the most rewarding moments of the day was witnessing the active participation of my students. They asked questions, discussed scenarios, and even shared their own experiences related to forces. This interaction not only deepened their understanding but also made the class dynamic and vibrant.
Challenges Faced:
Teaching with technology is not without its challenges. Technical glitches and connectivity issues can disrupt the flow of the lesson. However, these challenges have taught me the importance of adaptability and quick thinking. In such moments, I relied on my backup plan – traditional teaching methods – to ensure that the learning process continued smoothly.
The Anti-War Day Exhibition:
In addition to my teaching responsibilities, today was significant for another reason. Student teachers from our college were actively involved in organizing an Anti-War Day Exhibition. This event aimed to raise awareness about the devastating consequences of war and promote peace among students.
I was proud to be part of this initiative,
where we displayed thought-provoking exhibits, shared powerful stories, and engaged students in discussions about the importance of peace and conflict resolution. It was heartening to see our students, who were not only learning but also actively contributing to creating a more compassionate world.
Conclusion:
As I reflect on my 28th day as a student teacher at St. John's Model HSS Nalanchira, I am filled with a sense of fulfillment and gratitude. Teaching unbalanced external forces using ICT was a rewarding experience that showcased the power of technology in education. Additionally, being part of the Anti-War Day Exhibition highlighted the role of education in fostering values of peace and empathy among the youth.
This journey has reaffirmed my passion for teaching and has equipped me with valuable skills that will serve me well in my future as an educator. Each day is a new opportunity to learn, grow, and make a positive impact on the lives of my students, and I look forward to the days that lie ahead in this incredible journey of learning and teaching
